With all the talk about the technology and software available for internet blocking and parental control, the gurus all agree that parental control starts with the parent. We check what the parent can do to keep their children out of difficulty. There’s plenty of talk going around about all the different techniques you can keep your kid from rambling into chatrooms, viewing adult sites, watching R rated TV programs and nearly the rest that you need to keep your kid from. But studies show the best parental control to keep your kids out of difficulty is you.

This won’t be very well-liked by people who feel they don’t have some time or should not need to look at over their kids 24 / 7, but in the old days, that is how things were done. True, we didn’t have the Net, we probably did not have Sky TV with all its nakedness and violence and we didn’t have porno simply a click away, but children were still children and there were heaps of strategies for them to get into difficulty. And the principals that applied then apply now too. The experts in this area suggest the following straightforward things to keep your kids from getting into things that you simply don’t would like them to get into. Again, these are experts’ viewpoints and not necessarily the points of view of this writer. We are only reporting what the executives say. For TV it’s still the same as it was years back. For a start, kids don’t get their own TV in their rooms. They need to look at something, they come into the sitting room or recreation room or wherever the Television is located and watch there with the rest of the family. Then, whatever it is your kid is watching, you as the parent guarantee you monitor the program. If you are engaged with your kid turning on a pay station then simply do not have them in the house. We would like to set examples for our children. We will not do that if we are spending our time watching sex and violence ourselves.

Also, guarantee you have chosen viewing times. Most adult orientated material is shown after prime time starts.

You may need to cut off the time your kid can watch TV at roughly ten PM. Earlier if your kid is extremely young. As for the net, this becomes rather more of a problem because sex and violence are there 24 / 7. In the case of the net though it is actually no different from the TV .

No Computer access in the kid’s room.

The kid uses the same Computer as everyone else in the house, ideally in an open area where a parent can simply see what the kid is viewing. Make your kid aware of what’s out there and make him aware so he understands that he is to go a great distance from these sites.

Explain to him that it is actually easy to test if he has been to a fundamentalist or porn site and the punishment for doing so will be serious. Again, you may set an example for your kid. If you’re going to grasp if he has been to these sites, which you can simply check with your private PC’s history, then you as the parent have to guarantee that you are also miles away from them. Many could find the experts’ advice on this matter oppressive and irrational, but all of them unanimously arrange the problem with kids doing what they are not intended to do starts at home. It is the way it was and it’s the way it’ll always be.
