The other tradition is called the Gentlemen’s Day which is a tradition based on a males-only hiking tour with one or smaller wagon pulled by manpower. This year it falls on 21st of May 2009 and it is a federal holiday.
Another good example is the one from North America. There were many events that influenced Father’s Day celebration, and here is one event that is very interesting and memorable. This happened in West Virginia way back in 1908 where a deadly mine explosion happened in nearby Monongah. Three hundred sixty one men were killed from this explosion; many of them are fathers and were recent immigrants to the United States from Italy. There are other exciting events but it was President Lyndon Johnson who made Father’s day a holiday to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June.
It does not matter which date and custom we folow on this special occasion , what is important is the remembering our father’s role and responsibility in molding us and turning us into a good person as we are right now. Let us all honor all the fathers and forefathers for the noble things they did for us.
